Moderator: I received a warning for stating I was interested in a few vintage axe heads. Apparently, the member was not a Gold Member, but I cannot recall his membership level and I cannot access the posting in question. If someone is a Gold Member and is offering an item for trade, am I allowed to ask if they would consider a sale? Also, since I am only a registered user, can I post my e-mail address since I cannot send PMs? I read the site rules, but I couldn't find answers to these questions. Just an FYI, this evening I replied to the post of a Gold level member in the manner just mentioned. Thanks and I offer my apology for my previous infraction to to my ignorance of the forum rules.

Your questions were answered in the warning you received.
No membership level permits sales/trades in the discussion forums. These things must all take place in the Exchange by members with membership levels which permit it. You may not sell or buy in the discussion forums at all.
Selling in the trade forums is not permitted.
As a registered user, you do not have private messaging, but you do have email. You should enable your email in your profile.

High_Noon, you can receive and send email to other members if both sides have their email enabled.

Go to Settings > My Settings (left side) > My Account > General Settings
Messaging & Notification -- go through all the email and PM settings, including Default Thread Subscription Mode.

In fact, after you go to Settings, it's a good idea to go down the line on the left and check out all the possibilities you may want to specify.

When you click on a user name, you get a menu, including a link to the profile, to email, and to PM for when you can access that. If you cannot find these, the user has not enabled them. (When someone is selling in the Exchange, they are supposed to have email available.)

When you go to a profile, you will also see Visitor Messaging. This is not private. Whatever you send will be visible to any visitor to that profile. But it's a quick way to message someone away from the forums themselves.
