Warpage from bevel grinding technique?

When I learned about grinding blade bevels I was taught to grind one side to a steep angle, then grind the other side similar, then work the angle down in a few steps keeping the two sides even to help minimize warping during heat treatment. That was quite a few years ago though, and now that I'm seeing a lot of CNC stuff it appears people are machining one complete side, then the other. Has anyone here tried both methods and heat treated their own blades to see what the difference is if any?

I'm getting closer to CNC machining out some blades and if it doesn't make much difference I may adjust my machining strategy. On the test blades I ran recently I had them edge up and surface machined from tip to choil in one shot. I could save a bunch of time by laying them down and doing one side at a time instead.

Here's a quick snippet of the edge on method, slow as you can see...
