  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

i have a 1095 blade temperd to 56-58 and have some warp out toward the tip, can i straighten and how would appreciate any help as i am just on my third knife. thank you canyon@cwis.net

You should try to straighten it in between quenching and tempering. Right after you quench there is a small time frame when you can move the metal with harming it. Its between 400 and 150 deg most often. Straighten the metal at that time. You may be able to fix what you have with heat stop paste and a torch. Put the paste on the edge and take a torch (prophane) and bring the tip up to say 200 deg or so. The gently move it over sometime they will tweek back into straight.. sometimes not!

Take a look!!!

Try to normalize before heat treat, it will help remove stress from forging, grinding or whatever. Warping will be reduced! Other good things happen to the metallurgy Too!!
