this doesn't have anything to do with a custom knife. But given the expertise of some of the people in this forum who make knives I figured some of you might have an answer for me.

A knife was given to me by a friend because it's warped so he didn't want it and I thought I might be able to make it straight and get a working knife out of it. it wasn't warped much. It's made out of 1075 steel.

to straighten the knife I put it in a bench vise and put 2 pins on one side of the knife and 1 pin on the other side and close the Vice on it to where it was straight.then using a handheld propane torch I heat it up. the knife is straight as an arrow now. The only areas that I can see got a little too hot were the corner tips on a couple of the thumb jimping. no color came any work close to the blade.

so my question is did I do this correctly? Is the knife still good?

As long as the cutting edge doesn't get past a straw color you should be good.
