Off Topic warranties transferrable

Are Benchmade warranties transferrable? I've never puchased from the company and considering buying a new-no box/paperwork knife and don't want to be without the lifetime warranty!

Technically I think their knives are warranted to the original owners, but I buy most Benchmade second hand and have sent in a couple for warranty service and I've never had an issue. I've also never heard of anyone else having a problem with this. I think they just state that knives are warranted to their original owner to protect themselves for liability issues. I don't think they actually care if you're not the original owner, but I could be wrong.
