Hello, I had just received a knife back from warranty that has aluminum scales and it came back to me with several little dings and one larger ding on the edge of the scale. I don't care to much since i will be using it but I was just surprised that they wouldn't do anything after scratching a customers knife.
 
You could contact them, I'm sure they will fix the problem. OTOH, you said you don't care since your going to use it. I see the point to your post, but it's not really easy to respond to your statement. Some things make it out the door without proper Inspection sometimes.
