been a member here on blade forum for a long time. have a rat 3 was purchased before ratcutlery became there own company, is the warranty tsill good for mt rat 3 ?

This topic has been addressed many time on this forum and I suggest you read more, then ask. No harm done though. Jeff has made it pretty cleat that the knives made by ontario are not supported by the warranty that comes with the RAT Cutlery knives. So no the warranty is not the same.

Your knife was made by Ontario Knives, un-related to RAT Cutlery. Take up the warranty with them, though It's likely expired.

good luck anyways, and welcome to the board.

Do a google search for Ontario knives. Thier website has thier contact info. They only warrant against defects, not wear, tear or breakage

and wow. It's been talked about so much, in such detail, so recently, I'm begining to suspect trolling on this subject

Indeed. Only RAT Cutlery knives are warranted by RAT Cutlery. Only Ontario Knife Company knives are warranted by Ontario. Pretty simple. ;)

Different companies and different knives, why would one company's warranty cover the other company's? Common sense.

I can't speak for Ontario, but I see no reason a warranty would be "expired."

thx for the replys. didnt really pay attention to the top threads , saw the one on the warrant my bust . the knife is still in good working order carry every day i walk out the door along with some other nik naks .

Here, contact them directly, I'm sure they'll take care of you, or at least give you a definite answer about your knife.

Uhh, I don't think he has a warranty issue. He was simply inquiring about the warranty.

Well, either way, I'm sure they'll be able to give him an answer should he have a question regarding the warranty or an issue with the knife.

Hey if the knife is working, don't fuss about a warranty. Enjoy the blade while you have it. I use my knifes for all kinds of dumb things and have yet to ever need to call on a warranty issue. I'd just use the blade. If you have had it before RatCutlery came to life, then that means the knife has given you a few years of service. Enjoy those years and the ones to come!

It's pretty simple. As I posted in another thread, if it says Rowen on the blade then it's made by Rowen and not Ontario.

may I ask what the differences in the knives are?...I got the rat-7 and didn't know that they were different companys...they both look like the same design and 1095 steel

Rat-x is made by Ontario knife company. They were designed by Jeff and mike, of RAndalls adventure and training. Any knife made by and stamped ontario on the tang, is an Ontario knife designed by RAT.

RAT currently makes knives with rowen manufacing these are stamped RC-x and rowen

Ontario still makes and pays royalties for the rat-x knives.

Warrenties do not cross over, nor does customer service

I think the rc-x knives are better. There is nothing wrong with the Ontario knives.

That's how I understand it
