Warranty on Modified 110's or 112's

...I was just looking at an unusual 110 which was modified with scroll work on the brass bolsters and scales. It appeared to be MOP but I didn't see it mentioned in the ad. It was supposedly a Limited Edition limited to 100 pcs or so. The knife didn't interest me with all the scrolling and scale work that isn't in my area of interest but I wondered if Buck would allow it's warranty to accompany a knife so modified. Except for the Yellowhorse family who have actively collaborated with Buck for years , I wasn't aware of any others who would be able to offer the warranty...They did not mention a warranty with this knife but they are selling it as "brand new"...:confused:

well phrased and worthy of an answer...
i would extend that to include rescaleing with other wood or ivory ...

we need Joe !
 
I would not think Buck would warranty any knife with modifications. If the handles are epoxied on, it's difficult to get them off and re-install them. If the bolsters are scrolled or engraved, it would be very difficult to press the pins out, perform work and re-install the old or new pins without affecting the appearance of the customization. I doubt Buck would take the responsibility of duplicating someones art work, with the exception of knives that could be sent back to the Yellowhorse family.
 
Does Yellowhorse warranty their own work? I know Michael Prater does.

Joe has said that Buck won't warranty others conversions. Conversion being anything from reg production. He used the example of a turquoise handle shattering and customer demanding it be fixed.
 
i have trhe question of if you sent buck some inlay materal and they put it on, their stuff has a release agent to remove scales, would they warrenty it
i mean they can not replace bg42 now so they substute...
would not the same apply? i mean buck made a lot of things with ivory and it is not offered at all now ,,, will they still warrenty it?
i sure would like to send in some stuff, like the ivory and other stuff i have wanted on a knife...
