I was offered a trade of one of the larger busse E handled knives. This guy I guess has rather large hands, so he replaced the handles with some thicker Micarta scales, he also removed all of the coating and put on a silver finish. I know the handles would have absolutely no warranty, but what about the rest of the knife?. He said he didnt let the blade get past warm when he was removing the coating. Anyone know if this will still be covered if something happens to the blade?. Also if he still has the old scales, how much would Busse charge to put them back on?. Thanks. :)

I could be wong or itt cud be the mids, but thy Warrant states:

We cover antyhing you do, if it's UNINTENTIONAL.

I think you will end upp paying somee $$$ to have what it is you want done.

Your best bet would be too call de shop. The # will be at bussecombat.com

Hope I hellpd. If not, Hammy can't delete this ;)

If it is a bargain, get it! If you are primarily thinking about reselling it someday for profit, then I would pass. If the grinds have not been altered, just the coating removed and a new handle, and the price is right, I would snap it up.

I have a Steel Heart E that has had the coating removed, and thicker, smooth green micarta handles added. I got it at a very good price and consider it a primo user. The handles are perfectly fitted and are outstanding. However, the blade and grind has also been thinned somewhat, and the INFI dimples polished out. For that reason, I would not consider asking for warranty work or replacement if I ever damage it, which I don't expect to do.

Bottom line, at the asking price it was worth the risk of no warranty.

I wouldnt get it to resell it, just to use and abuse. The guy says he still has the original scales which is a plus. Anyway I was hoping to hear it from the man himself but I guess not. So until I here it from the horses mouth that the warranty is still good, I am probably gonna stay away.

Jeepin, the number for the shop is 419-923-6471.

Sorry I didn't get here sooner, was shovelin the stinkin SNOW!!!

Shoveling it? You have to shovel it? If we ever get any, we just wait until 10 am and it's gone, except in the shady places.
