Warranty Question, Re: Discontinued Model

I found one of my Bucklite 444s yesterday. The lock "snicks" open, but I can press the blade shut (without disengaging the lock) with very little force. If I were to send this in for warranty service, what would happen since this knife is no longer in production?

Photos are in Post #8 below.

I've sent in discontinued knives and they have repaired them.
But first I emailed with questions; which were answered, before sending them in.
I would recommend calling or emailing Buck prior to shipping the knife.you can get their contact info from their website which is linked at the top of this forum.

My guess is that as long as you tell them you definitely want your knife back--you'll get the knife back with a the closest thing they have to a replacement.

That's a shot in the dark based on the age of the knife and things I've heard in the past.

You'll get more guesses here, but the only way to be sure is to call Buck at the phone number given on their website--link at top of the initial Buck forum page.

Joe Houser is a MOD here, if you send him a PM and ask him what to do. He is good about getting back to people in a reasonable amount of time. He'll probably tell you to send it to Buck knives and address it to him. He like to walk forum members knives through the repair process and ensure you get what you want. Or he'll tell you nothing can be done...

We can replace that one no problem. What is the date on the box? If you could send it in to my attention, I'd like to review the lock.

And send it marked BKI instead of "Buck Knives."

All knives should be sent that way to cut down on theft.

I'm surprised that everybody doesn't know that by now.

J Hubbard;

E-mail sent to you about the 444 (dated 1997) and a 422 (dated 1974-1980). However, my research says the Bucklites weren't introduced until 1984. Subject is "Bucklites".

Okay... I got messages from both Joe Houser and Jeff Hubbard asking me to send the knife to their attention. So, who should I send it to? Will this cost $6.95 per knife a la "Spa Treatment"?
