From Spyderco's warranty page...
"Spyderco’s warranty does not cover damage caused by abuse, misuse, loss, improper handling, alterations, accident, neglect, disassembly, or improper sharpening."
(Bold added by me for emphasis.)

So, disassembling my knife voids the warranty. Got it; no problem. But, why sell these to customers then?

You're telling customers that taking apart their knife voids your warranty, and then you offer replacement internal parts (which require disassembly) to the same customers. I don't have a real complaint here, but I am curious as to how this works out.

Well for the most part the only reason you would need that kit if you took the knife apart and lost a part.... Imo
They sell it so you can still get pieces if you screw up the knife, without spyderco having to pay for em....still love the company (I imagine you do to)

They were made as a courtesy for customers who insist on taking apart the their knife and the breaking or losing something.

The warranty excludes damage caused by disassembly. I do not agree the warranty prohibits disassembly or that disassembly automatically voids the warranty.

This is correct. The Spyderco forum here is proof enough of it. I've read numerous accounts of folks who had disassembled a knife but still received warranty coverage later.

It's a grey area, at best. Sal has said that screw construction is for ease of assembly at the factory and Kristi has mentioned, more than once, that Spyderco can tell if a knife has been disassembled by the owner. Granted, there are types of damage that could only have been the result of a defective part, but there are others that could just as easily be the result of improper assembly.

Regardless of that, the parts kits are offered for the reason Rycen mentioned.
