Warranty question

I would guess no because it has no functional impact on the knife, but you should call them to make sure.

If I remember correctly, there is a fee, like $35 or something, to reblast the handles. But they will still fix any problems with the pivot, lockup, etc. let me know if that's right.

Per crk, any refinishing other than in house re-blasting voids the warranty. I emailed and asked.

I think I've read that it does not, but the best way to find out is to contact them. ;)

There ya go, OP. Only CRK can tell you what their policy is, and if that's still the policy, ano refinishing is out.

I know for a fact that if you Scotchbrite your Titanium, and send it to them, they will reblast them for free. I'm sure anodizing comes off and cleans up as easily as a sanded scratched up finish does. I doubt they'll turn you down.

Lonny--there are exceptions to this. In fact, it is likely that they will refuse to blast it again because scotchbriting rounds the chamfers on the edges and puts the slabs out of spec. There are plenty of posts confirming this. I have also had one turned away because of scotchbriting.

I called CRK and asked the same question before I got a 25 that someone had ano'd bronze. My answer was "of course, if you don't like it, send it in and we will reblast the handles to new condition". As long as it isn't flame anodizing, the answer I got was that it would be just fine. See the thread here: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1052712-Does-Anodizing-void-the-warranty

So, What is the Answer??? Why would we get two different answers to the same question from CRK??

Refinishing such as third party blasting of the scales, scotch briting, etc. and Electro-chemical Anodizing are two entirely different animals. The latter doesn't change the fit or shape one bit, the former may.

If they will re-blast a scotch brited knife then they will reblast an anodized knife. You just have to be very careful that when you scotch brite you are very gentle and careful not to round the edges. It's a risk. I know some people's handles have been rejected while other people's were accepted...

Thank you. This is what I was hoping!

Sounds like there have been two different answers. You really need to call or email CRK if you actually want to know...

This exactly I personally wouldn't gamble with a $400 knife on what someone says that doesn't actually work for CRK say's but maybe thats just me.

I think that is the problem, BOTH answers came from CRK. When I called, I spoke to Angela and was clear that I was asking about anodizing the handles explicitly. Not modifying them any other way. SVTfreak may have asked something like "Does refinishing void the warranty?". I asked "I am thinking about making a deal for a Sebenza 25 that the previous owner anodized bronze, does anodizing void the warranty?" Those are two completely different questions.

That's why the OP needs to CALL, or even better EMAIL, the folks at CRK and get a completely clear answer. Anything else is just...m@$7urba7ing.
