Warranty Question

A while back, I was gifted a first production 581 Barrage. Its one of my grail knives and its also a user. It came time for a good sharpening so I clamped it in my Smith's knife sharpener and when I was all done, I unclamped it and noticed the clamp had scratched the blade. It had never done this to any other knife before, so I was pretty baffled (I have long since gotten an Edge Pro). So I got some brasso and tried to remove the scratch, but it only shined the blade. The I put some 1000 grit sandpaper to it and it just scratched the blade more. Then, like an idiot, I just sanded the whole blade to make it match. It worked, but it faded the "first production stamp". I know I should've left the tiny little scratch alone in the first place, but I just hated it there. Now I just get disgusted when I see the ugly blade so it just sits there and haunts me

So I was wondering if Benchmade would repair the damage, or maybe the whole blade, but still have the first production stamp on it and make it look new again. Also, it has quite a bit of blade play. Would it void the warranty if I took off the bolster to adjust it?

I would be willing to pay a fee to replace the blade, btw. Thanks for any help guys!

They will replace the blade $25 for satin, $35 for black.

I don't know the fees for laser engraving, maybe $10-$15, possibly less, not something I've used.

Give them a call, it will get reassembled by them in the process.

First production markings have no impact on blade value, so if it's a value thing, I wouldn't sweat it.

You can reach them by phone or email, phone is faster.

Yeah, I know the first production doesn't affect value, its just something I like to have on there. I'll have to give them a call tomorrow. Thanks for the help and fast response!
