Good afternoon friends! Just a quick question for the Spyderco experts..
By no means do i want to turn this into a bashing thread.
A few weeks ago I noticed my manix 2 had a "twang" feel when opening..i thought at first it might be the spring was broken but after looking real close I noticed a hairline crack in the blade,at the very end of the blade that lead to the finger hole. The knife never was hard used, dropped or any other malicious handling.
The blade steel is s110v which I love as sharpening and edge retention goes.
I packed it up and sent her too Colorado.
Question is..any clue as to the turn around time on a new blade? I'm edc my PM2 which I love! But there's just something that makes the manix 2 the absolute best carry knife I own!!
My dream would be a smooth carbon fiber like my pm2..if I hafta wait much longer I'll be hunting a new manix 2
Sorry so long winded, have a great day!
Dave

Surely when you sent it in you spoke to customer service and they gave you an estimated turnaround time?

I'd think around 3 weeks max, depending on what they do to it. I'd imagine they just send you a new knife.

Sorry,I didn't take pictures of the crack..I'm taking the attitude that its just a glitch in heat treating or one that slipped through the cracks.
I'm in no means pressed for time not having the knife..i have others,as far as customer service goes, I read the instructions on how to send in damaged knives, and followed the instructions no need to bug anyone at the office,I'm just curious if any of y'all have gone through this process.

I think it will be quick, and you will be pleased with the result. I have faith in Spyderco.

From what I've seen with the perfection, materials etc..I have no doubt I'll be happy with the results!
Years ago my knife sickness started with..Case then Benchmade,Striders....then Chris Reeves and (still) love the CR's but early this year I purchased my first Spyderco, a PM2 c.f. and was blown away!!!! Then I bought the Manix2 and found the PERFECT edc knife imho!!
True the blade broke, never had that happen before,it was a fluke..no biggie!
Just looking forward to her return.
Thank for the help guys!
Dave
