Warranty question...

I looked for info here and by using the Google advanced search and didn't find anything pertaining to Busses, so I'm hoping someone can help me out with a definite answer. The question is this: Does stripping/satinizing/convexing void the Busse warranty? I can't really see how it would, but I figure it'd be best to ask, right?

Thanks,

Jason

The first two no. For the convexing if you're talking edge only I don't think so but if you're talking reshaping the primary grind to a full height convex grind for example, yes.

Yeh Murdok, only the edge has been 'vexed. Rest of the knife has only been satinized, though the spine has been polished.

i believe any mods that might effect the tempering would/could be questioned. normal sharpening should be no problem at all.

I am pretty sure you are screwed man. Please go ahead and send that Sabergrind SFNO to me. I will be a giver and take it off your hands so that you can sleep better at night

It's in the mail, man. If you'd told me that beforehand, I would have saved you going to the PO and me paying for shipping. Sorry for the incovenience. ; )

No really, though...any info? And if I'd known you loved sabre NO's like you do, I wouldn't have tempted you, brother. : D

On a serious note. I doubt that convexing just the edge of a knife will void the warranty. Pretty much all of the edges of factory knives are done with belt or bench grinders. Plenty of people have convexed their edges and the recent Competition HR and SARQ have exceptionally thin convex edges that are a whole lot thinner than your SFNO. But of course Busse will have the final say... so I would check with Jerry or Garth just to be sure.

Btw...I can't stop holding that thing. Feels perfect and cuts like a lightsaber. Will probably be using it to open cold coconuts for friends and fam during the little birthday thing going on this weekend. Thanks again, brother.

my banned hell razor will be here tommorrow, the convexing was the least of my worries after i let one of my redneck coworkers tug on it in a vise. he said he could break it. he was wrong. he is now a believer, but still a walmart gerber toating redneck. ha hah

LOL! Tell him to put that Gerber on the vise :D Be careful with that HR when you get it. It might just bite you if you look at it wrong. I was able to lop strands of hair with just a flick of the wrist.
