hello again i bought a 1987 model 110 at the flea market today [ten bucks] the gentlemen told me he broke the tip off and had to reshape the tip i compared it to my other 110 and it looks like mabe a 1/16 or less was broken off does not look like he used a wheel to reshape the tip if i sent it back to buck would they replace the blade being i don't have any papers on this knife thanks again .

Why would you want to if only 1/16" is missing and it's reshaped?

Not true! 1987 > is 425M.Remember 425M started w/ the year 1981(no symbols).So, all the V's are 425.DM

As far replacing the blade Buck may as their real good about that. But it would be w/ a 420HC blade. The 425's are harder to find and considered a upgrade. Your call.DM

thanks so the metal in the blade i have is better than what it would be replaced with thats good info to know yea i think i'll just keep it the way it is i just got a new 110 for my bday so now i have two that can use for edc along with my 309 again thanks for the info

Welcome to the Buck Forum Randy. Hand around. Your 110 collection will grow. :D

A sixteenth off the tip is probably less than what I have sharpened off my old two dot over the years.

pack rat you where right went back to the same f/m today picked up a 110 2 dot for 20 bucks only bad thing no sheath

Cool score!!! Sheaths are pretty easy to come by if you aren't concerned about one being "correct" for the time frame.

Maybe I will start hitting some fleas... :D:thumbup:

yep i have some that are like that also..
i heard some place that the early knives had a lot of HAND PROFILING
and as such some times would vary in how long by as much as a 1/16
this is consistent with a plus or minuses tolerance of 1/32
this shows up on old unfinished blades as they are
over sized compared to finished blades
i have two dots that are so full in the belly that they resemble a skinner profile
compared to some that have the splinter picker or boning knife look!

Dave,I've seen this as well in the 100 series. Some have alot of belly others not so much.DM
