A quick question about CRK warranty if you please. The warranty is not tied to the purchaser or where they purchased the knife but tied to the knife. In other words if I bought a Sebenza from Bozo the Clown and send it in for a repair for some legitimate reason, CRK would still honor their warranty policy?

I have been thinking exactly the same question. This is the one thing that has kept me from posting an "I'll take it" to many a post in The Knife Exchange section.

Yes, they will honor the warranty even if you've bought it from Bozo or BoBo. I've sent a knife in with a letter saying, basically that i just bought this knife off of "feebay", and it needs X done.

I've sent in several Sebenzas for upgrades or repairs and they have never asked for a receipt or proof of purchase.

Good to hear. And thanks, Thomason. I did not immediately connect on the username. ;)

I am happily, and eagerly awaiting USPS to go back to work after their much deserved two days off so that I may become a Sebenza owner. I used to say of folders that if it was not AXIS, I do not want it. That still holds true, mostly. But for every rule, there is probably a very good exception, eh?

I graduated from Axis-locking folders to the Sebenza. Nothing wrong at all with Axis folders, but once I took the "carry a Seb for a month" challenge back in '02, I was hooked. Something about the refinement and simplicity that both beckoned and captured me.

The warranty is tied to the original owner, because we have so few warranty issues we will normally take care of customers at our discretion.Beware there are knives on Ebay that have been abused ,you may end up with a bill for new back face.If you buy a new car the warranty is tied to original owner or a period of time.I wish our knives were indestructible but there is always someone that will do them in.

Chris, thank you for the reply. I thought this was so. The question came up - from me to Thomason while negotiating a deal. I know nothing is indestructible, I can break anything. Honestly, I cannot imagine a genuine warranty worthy problem. It is good to have such a warm, fuzzy feeling about buying knives with the reputation you have earned. When it comes to tools that my life may depend on, I tend to buy them new and keep the good ones. However, seems like hunting for a new CRK and instant gratification can be difficult. ;)
