Warranty Question

Hi Guys

Does the warranty include the knife coming with a sharp edge initially? I picked up a Rodent Solution at Blade. I handled a couple and then settled on one with natural micarta handle scales. The others with green scales had felt somewhat sharp, sharp enough that I could get the edge where I wanted it pretty easily but I didn't check the one I bought other than handle ergos and bought it. It was only when I got home that I realized the edge was far from sharp. In looking over the Swamp Rat website for contact and warranty info I noticed that the Rodent 4, of which there were none available at the time I was at the booth, sells for the exact same price I paid for the Rodent Solution, and wondered if maybe the edge was a warranty item if I could just swap the RS for the R4. I am actually about over loaded with smaller knives...I seem to have an affinity for them, but I really do need another decent sized belt knife in the range of the Rodent 4. The knife is still just as I bought it, pics below.

They would sharpen it to your likes for free if you send it to them. on the swap, They are into selling not trading so i personally wouldnt even ask but thats me. If anyone would though it would be them: )

I am not sure that swapping for an R4 would change anything about the edge... The edges on my rats are all a little obtuse in places though all are sharp, but I take the edge down to an angle that better suits my needs using DMT "stones": X-coarse for fast removal of the shoulders, then coarse -> fine -> ultra-fine to polish, maybe switching out to the mousepad+sandpaper if I want convex, but it goes pretty quick with this method.

But I take it that the issue is not that you want the knife sharper (as you can do that yourself or send it in to have them do it) but that you actually just want a different knife altogether and are looking for an excuse of some kind? *shrug* I'd say drop them a line - phone or e-mail - and see what they say... It'd be a poor business model if they allowed such swaps regularly, but they might make a single-instance exception...

Ok guys thanks, I get the gist of things so I guess I got what I came here for. I walked away from Blade with 4 knives that will shave hair and slice tomatoes and this really nice new butter knife. Could be worse, and it will make good material for discussions on obtuse factory edges and how to fix them. Thanks for your time and your input
