Buck has a subforum here. It would be a more appropriate place to ask. Buckle up. :D

Here is a safe assumption,if you choose to do any "work" to your knives consider your warranty void and you wont have any problems.

yea but i dont see y some paint should "void" the warranty because im sick of the knives starting to rust by the end of the day because its damp where i live.

you need to buy the tuff cloth. it is made to protect the metal from rusting. the navy seals use it for there weapons. I use to wipe down all of my swords at the flemarket and I had no more rust problems after that.

i like a good warranty.... i know in case i really need to use my knife im covered. Strider is my favorite company for this. I know no matter what i do.... as long as i dont modify/pimp the knife.... that im covered under the warranty

You got that right!

I don't know that all knives are out of warranty with cosmetic work done to them. rycen is right, though, you better assume they are until you get official word from the company. Asking us is asking to be misled.

Tuff-Cloth, or Marine Tuff-Cloth, will do a good job protecting your blades. It comes in a resealable package, very handy to carry around with your gear. Most people who have gotten knives from me know what it smells like. I lube them with Tuff-Glide and wipe the blades down with Tuff-Cloth before I pack them for shipment. :)

You have a Buck 110 in 420HC and it's rusting?

Hard to believe. But, if true, I would consider oil rather than paint. Or, as Esav said, Tuff cloth.

I doubt there's much to be gained by painting a stainless blade (as on the Buck 110), purely for the sake of rust protection. On a carbon steel (non-stainless) blade, maybe so, but only if the paint actually stays put, and if the blade is completely clean beforehand. A bad paint job will likely come off anyway, and might create more problems than it solves (by trapping moisture, dirt, salt and chemicals).

Protecting a stainless blade in a damp environment is usually just a matter of periodically wiping down the blade during the day, and then cleaning it before putting it away. Use Windex or isopropyl alcohol for that. For a little more help, a light coating of mineral oil or WD-40 can't hurt, after the blade is cleaned.

Edit:
As pointed out by Frank (knarfeng) above, I'd be surprised to see or even hear of a 420HC blade rusting. It occurred to me, I don't think I've ever seen a rusted 110, or any other in 420HC. Not to say it can't happen, but it should be extremely rare in this steel.
