Warranty Service question

I've got a Leek that has the worst blade centering I've ever seen. In addition it also has the dullest, most rounded-off serrations I've ever seen. Anyone know if when I send it in to Kershaw for warranty service if they would replace the blade w/ a plain-edged one if I asked? The serrations are ground down too far to even be sharpened back to any level of standard, so the blade would more than likely need to be replaced anyway. Thanks in advance to any replies.

Your best bet would be to call or email Kershaw.

Kershaw's toll free # is 800-325-2891

Yeah, I figured I should do that first but I was wondering if anyone had ever experienced anything similar to what I was asking. Thanks for the phone #, btw.

I've never needed a blade replaced, so sorry I couldn't help there.
But like I said, just give them a call. A call to one of there CS reps
will take great care of ya. They'll make you a happy camper...trust me.

Let us know how things turn out for ya.

Was the knife new when you received it? From the way you explain it, it sounds like you got it 2nd hand?

The blade center is likely an easy fix, but, the serrations issue sounds a little wonky to me. The newer Leeks come with scalloped serrations. They are rounded on purpose. I have never tried to sharpen them, but, I'd suspect they are harder to sharpen than regular style serrations. I wish you all the best in getting your issues resolved to your satisfaction:thumbup:

Yes, it is used. The serrations are worn down, as I used to have another serrated Leek and they are vastly different on this one.

If you got it as a used knife, I'm sure Kershaw will sharpen the blade for you, but I don't know if they would be willing to replace it with a new plain edge blade. Thomas would certainly know better than me.

If there is a defect, I'm sure Kershaw will go above and beyond. But if you bought a used knife that was either worn out or improperly sharpened (i.e. ground down), I personally don't think you should expect Kershaw to put a brand new blade on it.

Please understand that I don't know anything about the condition of your knife, but I am confident that Kershaw's warranty service will do everything that is reasonable.

If you post a picture of your knife, I'm sure someone will be able to better advise you.
