I had a customer with an issue on a knife (a competitor of Buck) and I sent him to the manufacturer because that particular line will not even honor their "lifetime" warranty from a dealer. The customer got terrible service, and I got a call from the president of the company telling me how the customer doesn't know what he is talking about and I don't know knives. He told me I was expecting too much.

Two weeks ago I met with a Buck rep. We were picking up Buck as a line in our brick and mortar store (not online...not advertising...) I asked about the warranty (though I knew it was awesome). He said that if someone comes into the store with a knife that has any issues that we could either send them to Buck or just trade it out with them out of our inventory. Buck takes care of their customers and dealers." I was impressed.

I am closing out the line (it is not on my site) with the jerk for a president and putting Buck in its place.

Thanks, Buck.

Stories like this are why I am proud to be a BCCI lifetime member.

Buck has the best customer service and warranty of any company I've ever dealt with. Good people!!!:thumbup::thumbup:

I would rather not say right now. I am in the process of sending them all back and don't want to muddy the waters.

I've had great experience with Buck as well (and Case too!). This was on $30-$60 knives from both companies. Bent over backwards to help me, offering to replace with a new one, etc.

On the flip side, I just got back a $200 knife from another very popular knife company that I had sent I for warranty. The lock was slipping with small amounts of pressure on the blade, other than that it was perfectly centered, etc. They sent the same knife back and said that the lock slippage was ok by their QC standards....but now I had the same defective knife but it was off center and when they re-sharpened it, they screwed the grind up! I talked to them on the phone again and they said I could send it back in even though all of the faults I described were ok by their standards and they weren't going to fix it.

People can talk bad about Buck (and Case) all they want, but at least they stand by their products!

I've had less than stellar dealings with gerber and i'll never buy another in my lifetime!Nothingn but junk knives now with someones name on the product to sell.

More than 80% are made in the USA according to Jeff Hubbard and I came up with about 87% by my count.

gerber use to be a good knife until they went to china just like buck did.

Buck didn't go to china, only a few models were made there and they have brought some of those back to the U.S. and planning on bringing more. If I'm not mistaking the models that were made in china were never made in the U.S.
