I know this topic has been much asked and debated and "what if"ed so I decided to call Emerson and find out from them what the truth of the matter is!
On the phone call I stated I had an Emerson with a re-profiled, v-ground edge (a common modification on these) and that the edge is the only thing that has been altered. The only reason the knife has been apart is for cleaning and is otherwise untouched. The representative on the phone said this should be just fine provided I'm warrantying the blade for purposes OTHER than sharpening.
Bottom line: according to my conversation, totally covered with the exception of sharpening.
