Warranty work on old spyderco?

If it is just an FRN handle the blade can be taken out fairly easy. You could theoretically do this yourself with nothing more than a dremmel, a fine stone, steady hand, hammer and punch. And of course a replacement blade. Chances are you would need a new pivot pin also but I have managed to make the old one work a time or two depending on the amount of excess on the ends.

I think if you send it in they can regrind it for you. A little shorter, but just as pointy. :D

In my experience, spyderco does no replace blades. They told me if the knife is made in Japan or not current production, they have no replacement parts. In the old days you'd send it in and they would regrind for free. Per their new policy you'll have to pay $20.

Show us a pic of it. If it isn't too bad I can walk you through how to reprofile that with a cup of water and a grinding wheel or belt sander. I'm sure some of the other members here have done that a few times also.

Just draw you a line on the blade and take it down to it kind of like some of us recommended to another chap that had a Yojimbo that broke. Kind of like this. Just keep the blade cool as you take it down.

There is only about a 1/4 in missing, I can probably make it meet the bevel with my bench grinder if I don't let it stay too long. But, I plan to grind a plain edge on there anyway, and when the edge is ground, it will probably meet the tip anyway. Thanks.
