So I just bought a brand new Benchmade knife from Ebay from someone who has an Ebay store and appears to sell mainly knives. Am I to understand that I cannot get the warranty because I bought it from an Ebay store? Actually, I just checked and the Ebay store/seller is Recon 1, which as I understand it is a valid authorized knife dealer in California who sells both online and at a physical storefront. So, that should be fine, right?

I just edited the post. Recon 1, who i bought it from, is an authorized dealer in California with both online and a physical storefront. So, unless you are employed by the manufacturer, I'll wait to get more feedback. thanks

Benchmade doesn't check to see where you purchased the knife, and it doesn't matter if you are the original owner, or the fifth owner.
Unless you abuse the knife, or if it is a fake, they will take care of any problems you might have...
You probably won't get a response here from someone that works for BM, but there are plenty of very knowledgeable people here that will help.

If you want an answer from an employee, call them, or ask the same question on Benchmade's Forum....

It does not matter.

But if what you bought needs to be serviced
or warranty and it turns out to be a fake.

You are SOL.
They will keep it and you will not be reimbursed.

Thanks so much. I have also written to Benchmade but haven't heard back yet. It's my first Benchmade knife so I was unsure when I read their warranty policy.

They are a very busy company. Writing them may take longer than you and most of us would like. Best avenue is 800-800-7427 and ask for customer service. Warranty will be honored even if you're not the original purchaser, no questions asked. Regarding fakes, it's best to know your product. Once you know what a real Benchmade looks like you'll have an easier time steering around fakes. They have a look about them that says "something's not right."
