This was my second Warren Old Faithful camp axe restoration. For some reason I like the design. I picked up a 16" boy scout axe handle from hickory handle store. For the first time, I left some of the handle on the top similar to those on GB et al. Didn't cut the wedge small enough but I'm happy with this one. Still learning on this. Still might drill a hole in the end knob of the handle.

Thanks all!

SkogKniv, I decided to try leaving part of the handle above the eye after seeing some of your posts. I like the look. I also left out the metal grady wedges as I felt the hang went well.

Looks good to me. If she loosens up a little then drive your metal wedge in. Hopefully it went in good and tight. Give that wedge plenty of oil.

Oh and by the way, any time you put the haft up through the eye like Skog does, that is hearby called a Skogged Head.

In that last pic it looked like the head was curved, but I guess it is just an optical illusion. Sorry.
