Well im thinking of ordering the warrior, mainly because of the h1 steel, and the fact it looks like a good all around knife. Just wondering what peoples thoughts are on it, mainly for an outdoor, hunting knife. The blade shape looks good for skinning. How stout do you think it would be? Looks tough. Thanks

I have one but I don't use it. I'm sure it can do all the jobs you mentioned for the most part except outdoors. It's design leaves it pretty limited for outdoors work. I don't think you could chop at all with it. It was designed for MBC knife fighting primary in a reverse grip. I think it would be very good for a diving/boat knife. Don't buy it with the expectation of bringing it camping though.

I'll still take my rc-6 along for the heavy work. I understand its design. It just looks like a good skinner, fishing knife, or river knife. I read alot of good things about the h1 steel. Thanks

They make the Aqua Salt in H1. It is an excellent fixed blade for fishing etc.

I forgot, if you want a better camp knife in H1 look at the Rock Salt. You can't baton with the Warrior given the serrated back edge.

I wouldn't want it for a skinner due to the serrated back edge. If it's anything like the REKATs it will be a ferocious stabber, slasher, and trapper, but far from optimized for utility work.

Great knife, but not really a skinner knife. It could work, but there are better tools for that task, like the Native. THAT is a great skinning knife. Lots of control and smooth consistent cutting.

I have not skinned anything with it but it did a great job on cutting up a batch of veggies for some soup. You just have to remember not to touch the back of the knife. The angle was great for the cutting board. Hope this helps.

I was going to add, this knife would be better used to acquire the animal prior to skinning. lolz

While we're on the subject, what makes the Warrior such a good fighting/killing blade? I get the serrations on the spine and the hand guard, but the upswept curve of the blade seems like stabbing and slashing would be difficult. Anyone want to school me on why it is effective?

You never know when a mountain lion is gonna pounce on you either. Lol. To me the blade shape looks useful for a lot of different tasks. I appreciate the responses.

The reverse style grip is its own animal. Understanding it takes years of training and studying. I have none, however, I have some martial arts (Hapkido) training and I know enough to know I don't know...nor can it be explained on blade forums.

Im just trying to justify the price. I really like the looks of the knife. Just the cool factor. To me it looks like a good back up for my rc-6. But thats why im asking. So no one uses theirs for anything else? Its always good to have a reliable tactical blade on hand

You are right ....it is a super cool knife. A little dangerous to play with but I can't help myself. It is my best T.V. knife. I would say there are better true tacital knives out there (Strider, TOPS, Busse) because the Warrior is much more of a fighter than a do it all, take a beating knife. IMHO a tacital knife (one I would take into combat for many duties) should be a tougher and less specialized than the Warrior.
Buy one you will love it.

I don't own it and don't plan on it. I don't want a double edged knife, especially like that.

However, Spyderco makes a good product. It probably excelles in it's intended user (not sure what that is).
