Im not tryign to start a fight here but igot a few questions. I have a neil roberts warrior knife and i love it. It is a safe queen right now. Im getting a busse combat really soon. I am considering starting to use the warrior for bush clearing. How tough is the warrior versus the busse hells razor. The other thing is i know that the warrior will be around for a long time to come but he busse has been discontinued. So should i use my warrior. OR should i get a green berret. Are they tough knives or should i go for a swamp rat?

sorry i got so many questions.

To start with I'll say, I have the Green Beret in both the 5.5" and the 7" blades, I have 2 Neil Roberts Warriors...1 to wear and use and 1 still NIB. I have the Busses Hell Razor, Heavy Heart, and the Satin Jack limited addition s/n 20X.

So, The CRK GB and NR's are basically designed for military type of operations and won't probably see a whole lot of tree chopping and camp building (but they could). The 7" GB would be more of a "survival knife" then the other two since the longer blade would help in chopping and splitting plus they have the serrations that some think is necessary for a "survival knife".

The Busse knives are made for much more robust usage as in chopping, digging, splitting logs with a baton, and are supposed to take a hell of a beating before needing the edge resharpened. Jerry Busse, I think, challanges any other knife maker to go side by side and see who lasts the longest.

I guess all of this is to say....If the knife is only going to be used under military conditions then that is what the CRK blades are made for.
But if you just want a knife that you can go out and beat the hell out of it and still ask for more then consider the Busse line of knives. FWIW, the Heavy Heart could almost to marketed as a "logging tool"....very heavy and stout!
CRK= S30V stainless CPM steel
Busse= INFI carbon steel that is very tough.

Hope this helps some.
Ciao

I agree.
I'd be more apt to get the Hell Razor for a user, if you're reluctant to use the Warrior. It's tough and has a great warranty. I don't think that Hell Razor's as good of knife for collecting, as some of Busse's other models. I'd get the Hell Razor and use it. In fact, I've been thinking of getting one, myself, for the same reason.

yeah but i knwo that the hell razor is discontinued. I love the lines of the razor. and i just ordered it. I think i will use the NR as my beater. I ahve been itching to se ejsut how tough s30v is first hadn anywwyas. Thanks for the responces. they confirmed my beleifs on the s30v versus INFI thing. I personally though the hell razor may not be to collectible it is my favorite busse model. So i might order a second one. One to use and one to collect.

Hold on there Tex....

The HR is NOT officially discontinued. Every couple of months, a new knife will show up again until the next round starts again. NOTE: There is no guarantee that the HR will be produced again, but it has not been officially discontinued as far as I know.... and I hang out on the Busse forums a lot!

WOW thanks for that info. Every once in a while i hear something really interesting. Thanks again.

Busse or Reeve?.... not any easy decision. Get both! It actually is an easy decision because there is no bad choice. Both makers provide the finest quality hard use knives available. I own a GB 7 , Shadow 4 and large and small sebs. as well as a Heavy Heart, EU17 and BS (I use them all). For backpacking I use a Busse (HH is the best chopper, greater wear resistance) for kayak camping I grab my GB (greater stain resistance, serrated for cutting wet rope). Just my .02, hope it helps

Read that thread for more info..... and feel free to email me. Jerry Busse hasn't stuck to a monthly schedule. It's been like 2-4 months for each, depending on production and demand. (I don't really know exactly why, but that's what makes sense to me.) Sorry to hijack this thread, but the question was asked.
