I'm thinking of picking up a Warrior and was wondering people's experiences with it and whether they liked it. I really don't plan on using it much I just think it's really cool. How sharp did it come out of the box? A concern of mine is H1's ability to take an edge.

Well I don't have the warrior, but you're asking about H1 which I do have. I've never had a Spyderco come dull out of the box, in fact all of the have been close to hair popping sharp. To be honest, I don't understand why this is such a concern for so many because I think if you're going to be a knife collector/ user, you should know how to put an edge on a knife. H1 takes an edge very easily, but at first doesn't keep it for very long. After a few sharpenings, the edge will hold very well. H1 is one of my favorite steels.

Are you sure you want to buy this knife just to look at? I mean sure it looks cool, but it was really made to be used. It is also pretty expensive at around $300 and to spend that much on a knife just to look at seems at bit silly though some may disagree.

Anywho, sorry if I coming off hostile, I don't mean to be. Its your money do what you want with it!

If you are buying it cos it's cool and don't plan to use it then why would you care about the edge retention?

I'm not positive I won't ever use it. I just don't plan on using it much. that might change when/if I get it. I don't want it to get dull after a little use. I only want to buy quality knives. Otherwise I could just get some crappo 420 knife that looks cool like the Rambo knife.

Super, super sharp out of the box. At least mine was. A very cool knife. Edge retention is not a problem with H1; though it's not as good as some 'super steels', it's great stuff. Haven't really had a chance to use it, though. Wrong time of year for me, I guess.

Good to hear about the sharpness. My only concern left is about how prone I hear H1 is to scratching. I'd be pretty bummed if I cut a cardboard box and it got scratched up. Can anyone testify to experience with H1 and scratching?

i had a pacific salt and it got scratched up very badly, but because i carried it while redoing my roof, and i used it to open packs of shingles. when i opened them, the shingles rubbed against the knife and scratched it. but i assume doing that would scratch most knives pretty badly, but ive never done it with another knife so i dont know.

You never know when the world will be plagued by flesh eating zombies and need an appropriate tool to dispatch them when looking for more ammo for your shotty.:D
It would be my weapon of choice in a zombie war.
