I just got a Spydie Warrior in the mail yesterday. Its a pure bred fighter, but its probably going to just sit in my knife chest as I'm not too into knife fighting...

I was apprehensive for a long time about the H1 steel. I bought a Rock Salt quite a while ago and I wasn't very impressed by its heft. It seemed too light, if that makes any sense.

The Warrior is quite a bit smaller than the rock salt, but made out of thicker stock steel. Also, the hand guard is a solid billet that is a little thicker than the blade stock, lending quite a bit more weight to the top of the handle, almost achieving a 50/50 balance.

One of my biggest gripes about Spydies over the years has been the handles. I HATE the rubbery, cheap feel of rubber and most plastics. The multi-directional FRN is a far departure. Yes its a plastic, but the grooves are cut deep enough and at enough different handles, to really lock your hand onto it.

I haven't used it, but it does feel great in the hand. Finish is great, no odd scratches or marks.

The fit of the handle slabs is the only thing I can find that isn't perfect. On the tip of the final finger groove, the handles peek out over the tang about 1mm or less. Not enough to feel unless you know its there.

Overall I like it. I think the retail might be a little high, but its a solid knife.

It is such a cool knife but I wondered if I could use it for anything ... other than my TV watching knife. Tried cutting up some veggies with it and it did great. The curve of the blade keeps the handle off of the cutting board, unlike a bushcraft knife that would place the handle in line with the blade. After that I used her for all sorts of odd stuff and she performed great. The only CAUTION is those serrations; if you forget she's double edged ...well you will only forget once :).

Yeah, who the hell is into knife fighting...

I was joking, it was my way of saying I bought it without an immediate need :D

I like the fact that H1 doesn't rust. I can neglect it, forever, in a drawer/box/bag and it will always be ready.

Hell, theoretically, if H1 really "will not rust" my kids and grand-kids could neglect it forever too.

If it doesn't get destroyed by people, maybe little martian men will find it when they're digging for ancient treasure on earth.

They'd find it and say, "Damn, these Earthlings were some crazy mothers!"

I love my Warrior, it is designated as my main defense blade for animal attacks in the wilderness.

But i do agree with the OP that it "feels too light". When i first got it, I was underwhelmed. It felt too light. I hate light knives. My Junglas is light, my BK2 is light, so when i got the Warrior I was really unimpressed....Its growing on my though, namely the insanely wicked sharp edge i can get with it. Great kitchen knife, great all rounder for the woods (makes crepe paper thin fuzzies, better than a scandi grind).

would REALLY like to see another release of the warrior, but much heavier and thicker.

its too damn light.

would love to see a much larger version too, as well as a "PICO" version for EDC carry.

would really like to see a blade thats about 1/4" to 5/16" thick in this shape and cut.

Sounds like we need to kidnap Jerry Busse :D

I like it because its light & fast in the hand , so there . :D

One of the most versatile fixed blades on the market ,
great ergonomics and a steel that mimics carbon steel without
the rust , hunter woodsman diver military bushcraft home-defense
utility knifeknuts knife , HWDMDH-UKK , but it will get scratched ,
oh boy , H1 just loves loves to get scratched .

So , is it perfect in all aspects , no , but what knife is !?
