Yesterday I was talking to my favorite exotic leather dealer about ordering some shark and he says "Have you seen the Warthog?" I replied "No, I don't think I've ever seen warthog leather". He sent me the following shots and I knew I had to try a hide. It looks really interesting. From the photos I would compare it to a cross between elephant, ostrich, and shark. Anyway, can't wait for it to arrive and make some knife sheaths, holsters, whatever out of it. Hoping it works well and will burnish fairly well with veg tan when laminated (that's always a toss up with chrome tan exotics). Will be sure to post when I have something made. Has anyone here ever worked with the stuff? Just curious if you had any thoughts.
Oh and by the way, I did one more piece for my knifemaker friend in trade. You probably remember the logo valet tray. I made him another but this time a logo display mat for shows. Turned out nice.
