Anyone have experience with either of these Ka-Bar blades? Fit, finish, balance, edge retention?

Ka-Bar Warthog Impact 1463

or

Ka-Bar Warthog Folder 3070

I like the designs. I'm a little reluctant about the linerlock after having a girlfriend's Benchmade ALMOST close on my digits. She hadn't noticed that the lock was failing. I've been shy of them since. If a Benchmade (with that price tag) will slice your fingers, what will a $20 piece do? Any help is appreciated.

I have used the fb warthog for camping on and off for several years. Works well but you should really cut off the top part of the finger guard . That makes it far more comfortable to use. Good value for the bucks.

Hi Diablero!
I've used my Ka-bar warthog fixed blade a lot! Not the impact serie, but the all black warthog fixed blade. It's a great knife, VERY sharp, good edge retention an overall good knife!

Thanks for your input.
Do you guys take the top part of the guard off with a hacksaw and then file?
This is the very reason I look to the Impact version :)

I used a hacksaw, file and then very fine wet and dry sandpaper. Others have apparently used dremel tools but that isn't in my arsenal.

While the Impact version is nice save some money
and buy the cheaper original all black version as
it makes a better user. The 1095 blade is great
in the field because you can sharpen it on a rock
if you need to. Also, as a true user you won't
mind beating it up or losing it as much.

I took the guard off mine with a hacksaw/file combo
I used some black paint to seal the bare edge and
proceeded to use the snot out of it. It's a great
campers knife due to the wide blade.:D :D

I'll be recieving a Warthog Serrated folder shortly and I will report on it when I get it. I am impressed with the spae of the blade and i have been told that Warthogs are the "poor mans" strider.
I plan on using mine for for public safety carry. I'd like to know what others use theirs for. Cheers!

Ive been using my new Warthog folder for about two weeks now. I like it. Its ungly but it grows on you. I dont think its up to heavy duty use but it is a handy tool.More as I get the time to post.

Does anyone have experience about the hidden carrying of the Warthog Impact? Isn't it too heavy and/or uncomfortable?

I have the "sniper" from Newt Livesay. This is the original knife that the Warthog was copied from.More expensive than the warthog, but a superior knife to the ka-bar.
