Wartman?

I recently acquired a nice handmade knife while wheeling and dealing at an army surplus shop. It's stamped "Wartman". According to the shops owner the maker has passed away, but he was American. Other than this, I have not been able to find any other information about this maker. If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd gratly appreciate it. Thanks.
