Was 2009 the year that Emerson went from all Ti liners to a steel on the non locking?

I heard 2007 and then on googles encyclopedia website it says 2009?

Does anyone what month and year did he change over?

If it was 2009. Was it early 2009? Half way through?

I thought 2006 was the last year for all Ti liners. Guess I'm in just to find more info too. Sorry I'm no help.

Not sure on your question, but, I have a 2013 horseman and the liners are non-magnetic. Both of them.

Here is a description of a cqc-7 from an authorized dealer

Emerson CQC-7 Prestige model with new Standoff barrel spacers is a double V-ground Spear Point version of the infamous CQC-7B. The Wave Feature opening Stonewashed plain edge 154CM stainless spear point blade is built to last. The blade can be quickly deployed with the ambidextrous thumb disc. Textured black G10 scales are secured to aerospace grade titanium liners, one forming a liner lock. Comes with a black pocket clip for tip-up right-handed carry. Brand new direct from Emerson Knives, Inc. Made in USA.

Bladehq specs list the frame as titanium with g-10 scales for the horseman. Is the "frame" the liners?

Yeah I would consider the frame to be the liners. I gave my 2013 Horseman to my brother, so I can't exactly tell.

Wait I just remembered my Bandito is from 2013. I'll check it but I believe it has a stainless liner.

From Emerson's website, details for cqc-7. They are titanium liners, one side being the liner lock. Both being made out of aerospace titanium.

taken from google wilkipedia website:

"Since 2009 EKI has been using a stainless steel liner on the non-locking side in order to keep costs down"

So does that mean all models? Or just some?? Is the CQC-7 the only model with all Ti liners in production?

This is directly from the Emerson website....

"Why do you use stainless steel on one liner and titanium on the other liner?

Monday, April 29, 2013
We use Aerospace grade titanium on the spring/lock side liner. Titanium is the perfect material for that function and has all of the properties needed to perform the duties of a strong reliable locking liner system. The opposite side (non-lock side) is crafted from a 300 series stainless steel. This side of the knife functions as a handle frame stiffener and has a minimal mechanical function. The stainless steel is truly stainless. It will not rust and does not affect the overall performance, wear, or durability of the knife in any negative way."

So what year did Emerson officially switch over from all Titanium to one side steel?

Better yet, what year and what months? Anyone know?

It is official.. 2005 was the fist year

I called the Emerson factory to on an unrelated issue and asked them about when they discontinued the ti liners. They got back to me after asking Ernie and said it was 2005 that they started to change over..

so there you have it.. 2005 was the first year they started using steel liners on the non-lock side.

Then much like the backspacer-to-standoff of late, it must have been a rolling change, as I have newer one's than that with dual Ti.

Question for you... how can I tell the difference between the ti liners and steel ones?

The steel liners are supposed to be non magnetic.. so how did you tell them apart?

Early (pre 2013) ss liners are thinner stock than the Ti lock side. New SS liners are now same width, so not sure how those could be differentiated.
