was at ace hardware looking at a bm auto.....

so this older gent(atleast 70)showed me some knives i wanted to look at. lastly i looked at a bm reflex, the guy didn't even know how to close the blade, could i have bought this knife without him even knowing to ask me for my badge# or something?

thats one reason i didn't try to purchase that knife, didn't want to take advantage and get someone in trouble at the same time
 
You probably could have done so. I don't know anything about automatic knife laws, so I don't know what would happen if a civillian got caught carrying an auto. I would be nervous as Hell doing so.

ACE hardware stores are independent dealers. They all carry the "Ace Line," but they are also pretty much free to carry whatever else they want that they think has regional appeal to their customers. Many carry hunting/fishing/camping/sporting type stuff.
