Based on the chatter here on the forums I ordered a Benchmade Adamas last week. I read enough positive on this item that I decided to risk my usual luck & purchase a 275 sight unseen from a BF advertiser and disregard an unsatisfactory Benchmade purchase late in the last century.
I then traveled to the "big city" for an shooting event & visited a Sportsman's Warehouse. I handled about a half dozen Benchmade Axis lock models & found everyone had a significant side to side play that would have precluded my purchase even if they had been sharp. I got a sinking feeling & kept my fingers crossed.
I picked up my mail this AM including the Benchmade Adamas.
Now I'm a critical old buzzard & have owned several CRKs, Striders, & top of the line in about every brand and a few customs. The Adamas I received is on a par with the best of them for solid lock, centering, sharpness, fit & engineering at a price point that is very easy to live with. Out of the box it would push cut the thin receipt paper that spits out of gas pumps & shave hair easily. In looking at the edge & running it over a thumb nail I could tell it was toothy.
I decided to give it a spin on my sharpmaker & tried working it at thirty degrees inclusive. I worked through the diamonds, grey, & finished on the white. My fear & loathing of Benchmade D-2 is now a vague memory. My previous Benchmade D-2 blade had me speaking in tongues. However the heat treatment on this latest product is great & is deserving of a review by itself. I handled a Dozier D-2 several weeks ago that appeared new & this Adamas D-2 seems to be just as keen or maybe more so.
In closing I want to thank everybody who contibuted to the discussions on this Adamas Model and posted reviews & testimonials. If I wasn't a member here at BF I wouldn't be enjoying this product now. Thanks All.
