All these years I have thought the term, "push cut" meant cutting a piece of paper by PUSHING the knife across the edge instead of the usual pull that we all do. Because it is harder to cut paper FORWARD than PULLING.

BUT....SUDDENLY...

Last night I was messin with my new Native and it just goes in paper without pulling OR pushing. BINGO! My brain lit up.

Now is THAT what a "push cut" is? No movement of the blade at all? Just pushing it through paper?

If so, I hafta throw out all my knives cuz only my Native will do that.

And it is a FACTORY edge which makes me feel even worse.

Push cutting is just pushing the knife into the paper with no forward or back movement.

So you were wrong and you are now right. :)

Push cutting is also pushing the blade forward into whatever it is you're cutting. In either case, you're pushing the knife away from you.

Pulling the knife toward you is a draw cut.

Waaaaahhhhhhh..... !!!!!!!!!!!!!

push, pull, press, waaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh
snif.

:(

(wish I cud edit the title. shudda put sumpin bout "push cut.")
