I hope that it is fine with everyone to post this knife on here. Just got it today and I am very impressed. Everyone at Fiddleback is talented and it shows in this one. Got this one from last weeks Fiddleback Friday. Great work, Allen!!!!!

Muskrat XL, Curly maple over thick green micarta with a black pinstripe, 1/8” hollow ground CPM 154, 4 ¾” blade, 9 5/8” OA

Great looking knife. Love that thick handle. Would fit my hands perfect. The contrast between the green micarta and the maple looks awesome.

Good job Allen and great pickup Martin!

Glad to see you like it Martin! Let's see some pics in use when you get a chance. Still at Fiddleback right now working on some of my stuff, life of a knifemaker, lol. Enjoy!

The green micarta liners look really great with the wood. That's a really nice combo.

Thank you for all of the nice comments and support! The "patriot" in this weeks FBF is still available.

I also picked up a Muskrat from Allen, albeit a regular, not an XL. I really love this thing and needed to share some pics. Hope it is ok to continue to share here as well.

1/8", Convex (1st one I am told!), O1, Stabilized Mango, Orange G10 w/natural, micarta pins, SFT.

Haven't figured out the sheath situation yet, so we are going naked time for this set.

Yeah Martin, really love the look and even more the way it feels and performs. It shared some time with one of my hiking buddies last night on a spoon I started. It is definitely the sharpest knife I have right now.

Another shootout for Allen. This time comparing Allen's Patriot to Andy's Hiking Buddy. Both knives are comparable in size, and these two examples have bolsters. The HB in O-1 has a high sabre grind, and mixes Wenge with natural canvas. The Patriot in CPM 154 has a convex grind, and mixes Cherry burl (probably spalted), with black Micarta and adds an almost purple pinstripe.

Side by side. Note how the Patriot has a more pronounced finger guard, and the handle also has a place for your pinky. Both knives are on the smaller size, and you could argue that a lanyard is not needed. The HB would probably fit larger hands, but the Patriot feels very secure for a hand that is about 4 inches wide.

Tapered tangs. This particular HB thins to almost nothing, which makes it very light. Andy, I have always wondered how you made it so thin (no coffee that day, I guess 👹). You can also contrast the pronounced finger guard in the Patriot.

Allen, congratulations again on joining Andy and the team. Based on this early example, you have a bright future ahead. I look forward to your next installments! GM

Both are beautiful knives, but that hiking buddy is perhaps one of my top two favorites. I'm sure it's a long list, but if you ever want to sell it....

I also want to thank Allen for his presence on this forum and for Andy's commitment to give budding knife makers a "hand up." It shows real class, and I think that is part of what influences is place to be so classy (even if we are a bit of a motley crew).
