Was the 102 Woodsman ever made in S30V? I saw one for sale and was tempted, except the price was too much, I think. I hesitate not only for that reason, but also I do not know if this knife was ever made in that steel.

Also, what other steels was it made in, besides 440C, 425M, and 420HC?

Doc, it may be offered in 5160 steel soon. Buck's 102 was indeed offered with a mirror polished blade of S30V steel and up grade handles and sheath with a lanyard hole. It was the model 902 Signature Series. The series held the 102, 103, 105 and 119. Some folks have them. They are hard to find. DM

Thanks, David. Do you know what other steels this pattern has been offered in?

Ok, thanks. I missed the S30V as I was being cautious. I'll keep my eyes peeled for another one.

That is interesting that there may be a 5160 version. In a 120 I could see that, but in a 102? I think I would prefer the 420HC or old 440C. Both would hold an edge better but the 5160 would be tougher...at least I think so. I wonder why, if they wanted a non-stainless steel, they did not use 50100-B?

The 5160 version has been on the market for about a month.I have serial # 020.

PS:My 5160 103 is serial #003 and my 105 is #004.
