Was this a Buck special project?

I just received this one and I can't find it listed as a 2008 special project. The box says 2008, but I'm wondering if it was done by someone besides Buck. The tang stamp is no help as far as when it was made.

It appears to have been lazer engraved and in real life the ducks head and lettering are more gold/yellow than the picure shows.
 
I think your right....Not by Buck. To simple,and DU puts out a LOT of different issues.I think its a local chapter kind of thing...
 
i dont track "cat' numbers or the 110 model number meanings..
from what i have seen the "BR" stands for brass
"S" for satin blade
and the "DU" of course would be for ducks unlimited
my gut feeling is that it is a real buck issue not after market..
but i have been so wrong of late that this is jest a guess
putting it out there as i would love to know how
to decipher that mod number for real..

I didn't notice the cat number...DU is a good clue it might be a real Buck......
 
I took a look through my files and did not see anything like that for 2008. I'll ask the Specials department if they know about it...

I hear ya Dave. I'm spread pretty thin these days though...feel bad I'm not getting in here everyday so I'll work on that.
I found out that the knife is one of a dozen that can be purchased with the DU logo. Only available to DU chapters and they use them at their functions.
David M. is absolutely correct...the reason there is no date code mark is because it was made in early '08, the time they did not get the new stamps in time.
