I can't seem to post pictures, but I can transfer links (I hope). My new computer is running, but I'm still trying to get my files over to it:grumpy: !
Can anyone tell me if this was made in the factory, or if it is an after-firesale assembly?? I like that pattern, and would like to add one to my collection. Thanks, Charlie

If the packaging is accurate, it was made in Ellenville by Schrade; they didn't close the factory until the end of July in 2004.

I'm not familiar with that knife model though.

Charlie, I have one of those, bought it off a fireman in Walden. It's three inches with a mossy brown stagbone jigged handle. Tang reads Schrade over Walden over NY USA. #206 on the bolster. I think it might be from overruns from their cigar box line. Schrade made these anually for Wawarsing's 4th of July celebrations, I've heard that Canal Street took over the tradition, but I haven't seen any to confirm it.
Good Luck !
Eric
PS Check out LT's post in Upstreams link above, it's the same knife (along with that fine Canal Street I just mentioned.
PPS- IMPORTANT- I just realized that mine and LT's don't have the shield, everything else is the same, including that bolster stamp, so I"m not sure what the deal is with that.

Nice deal, Eric; $22 is pretty cheap!

I will give either of you $25 for the knife. :D :D :D

Nice knife, I think you both got a good deal! Or did you get one Charlie?

I'm bidding on the ebay one, Dale. Might get it, might not. I'll post better pics (my new computer is nearly there!) if I do.

But my 2004 commemorative is a different design. (Sorry, can't post pics here). Can't remember the model. Although different models were used as commemoratives over the years it was my belief that they only used one model per year. Also mine does not have the shield and the bone is jigged in a different pattern. If that is the case then something is fishy somewhere. I got mine in Ellenville so I'm pretty happy with the provenance. Hopefully, I'm wrong about the one you posted not being original.
In regards to CSC. AFAIK they have not continued the 4th of July tradition. Probably cost prohibitive. I did hear very recently though that they did contract to do our local Friends of the NRA 2007 knife. Hopefully, I get my hands on one. When I hear more I will share it here.
Please report back. I'm interested.

I think I may be wrong, the number is not clearly legible in the photo could be any number, my apologies. I still think he did well on this one though!!
Regards Tim

Well here it is! I've tried to give you a clearer scan. As you may see, the number is 0009, a serial no. I guess. The box adds some credence to it. The bone is a sort of carved stag bone, dyed a reddish brown over green; nice effect!
Nice tiny knife, 2 7/8".

I like the "green mountain bone" used on these knives, so today I couldn't pass up a similar boxed example. Mine is serial #092. Note that mine doesn't have a shield. Some other examples I've seen (https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/help-with-4th-of-july-knife.408969/post-3800821) have no shield either so I think it came in both "flavors".
