Wash knives

i'll assume you are asking about folders, since fixed blades should be relatively self explanatory. i use warm soapy water and open/close the knife a few times as i'm rinsing it. then i use "Duster" to blow out the water and oil it up. sometimes, depending on the amount of grime, i'll use a Q-tip in the process.

I use BM Blue Lube cleaner. Then I apply a thin coat of oil.

Usually wash in warm soapy water, towel dry, blow out excess water, flush any other water with WD40, and finish up with RemOil. I usually add White Lightning lube in the pivot to end a cleaning. This has worked for me for several years.

Is RemOil the best protection against rust? I have just some sewing-machine oil, and some cooking oil, that seems to work too. I used gun-oil a while, but it smelled so bad.

That will work fine.I like Latama lube the best, but anything is better than nothing.Sewing machine oil is actually pretty good stuff.

How do you wash your knives?

Like the man said, fixed blades should be self-explanatory.

For the most part, I don't wash folders.

If I absolutely have to wash a folder, I:
- wash with warm soapy water.
- Wipe it dry to the best of my ability.
- For non-stainless I then squirt in WD-40, wipe out the excess, then rinse with mineral spirits to remove the WD-40.

- When I'm done, I lightly oil it.

Rinse with water
Wash with warm soapy water
Rinse with water
let dry on paper towel
squirt of lube or oil of choice on pivot

Done

I wash my knives once a week sometimes more depending on usage but i use my knives so they get dirty

Every few months I'll take my edc apart and give every part a good scrubbing with my room mates tooth brush. :D

When I put it back together I lock tight the pivot screw, and lube the pivot area.

Pinned knives are scrubbed with said tooth brush in soap and water. Then blown dry with compressed air, lubed and put back in pocket.

i wash whit hot water. wipe whit air or paper. for pivot use victorinox or beretta oil and if i clean carbon blade i prefer use food vaselin so when i cut food i haven't a problem for eating

Hot water and soap mostly. Dry with hair dryer, re-lube pivot and re-treat with rust preventative if carbon steel.

I use a tuff cloth and mineral oil. If the knife is really dirty I'll rinse the knife and use the soft side of a sponge
