in the gal darn washing machine with the rest of my clothes. it came out completely unscathed, and thank GOD it dodn't open while it was in there. it's all nice and clean, BUT ...
i am REALLY unhappy with not having a pocket clip. other than that factor, this is by FAR my favorite knife. but when i have to put it IN my pocket, i tend to forget about it. I NEVER have that problem with my other folders. i just wish i could get a clip put on this workhorse, as then it would be absolutely perfect. i have a belt sheath which i NEVER use for it, as i have to slide it on the belt when i put it on, and it holds too tight for easy access to the knife. does anyone know if someone has put a clip on an Umfaan before, and if so, who it was? i would LOVE to have on put on mine. thanks!!

but BOY, it's all shiney and sparkley. a few more ware markts, but heck, that's just character :)

Vactor. I feel your pain. I have a new Mnandi and prefer to carry it without the clip. The only quick solution might be to order a clip sheath from William Henry Knives. I've heard that their smaller sheath will hold the Umfaan quite secure and you will still be able to gain fast access to it. As far a getting an actual pocket clip milled or put on your knife, you might want to consult with the Reeve shop before attempting. Warrenty purposes is what I'm thinking. Good luck.

imho a sheath for a knife like the Umfaan is contrary to the design of thi small sleek beauty. in any case, i have read a number of past posts from CRK on the forums that they will not install a clip onto an Umfaan. i _think_ i remember someone having one done by another person, using a small sebbie clip, but can't be sure. as far as warranty, i know the CRK warranty is outstanding, but i also believe in the quality of the knife as-is, and that my knife use will not be something that will subject it to unecessary wear and tear. thus, i wouldn't too much mind a voided warranty, as i would not anticipate having to use it on a knife as well made as a CRK ... just my thoughts. still love the darn knife a LOT though :)

I recently picked up a super nice little Umfaam on a trade, and it has become my daily carry knife. I work in a Govt building, and we are subject to being able to only carry knives with blades under 2.5". This knife fits that catagory extremely well. I carry mine in my pocket in the provided leather slip, but have wondered about the possibility of carrying it in a little leather pouch around my neck. ??? Anybody else carry one of these in a neck pouch?

I sent an email to CRK about a month ago looking to see if they would install and pocket clip and they claimed that they can't. Chris didn't design it to take one.

Vactor, can you remember who made the pocket clip modification? I would think that the Umfaan would make an awesome money clip!

As much as I like William Henry products, I do NOT recommend you use one of their sheaths to carry your Umfaan. I had mine in one and it got pulled out because the lanyard caught on something. I didn't even notice it was gone until I got home. Luckily, when I drove all the way back to work it was still lying in the parking lot.

What I would recommend is a Gary Graley sheath. I've had mine for about a year and it is fantastic. Gary makes it so it is snug, but not hard to access. And it clicks into place when you put it back in the sheath. I consider this the ideal Umfaan carry method. My pocket is for my slipjoint.
