Has anyone tried to replace the washers on their Vantage knife with different ones? Bronze?

Not sure I will bother but was curious if it made any difference in the handling and how hard it was to do. Also, what size did you use/source if anyone has done it.

Thanks!

I have tried it, was able to punch out my own in bronze. Outside diameter .315" Inside diameter .130". They do make the blade a little more rigid but the action goes away, the blade is not near as smooth and the flipper dosen't get the job done unless you really flick you wrist.

If you take it apart should be easy to measure the existing washers and order replacements. I just haven't had the time/energy to mess with it and not sure there will be a real gain.

Or, we may get lucky and Joe can chime in with the washer specs. Save me some frustration that way:D

Outside diameter .315" Inside diameter .130" washer thickness .015"-.018". If you find some washers close to this size make sure that the outside diameter isn't larger by more than .005" the inside diameter can be a little larger and the thickness needs to be close, or the you will wedge the blade in the pivot. and it won't work near as well.
