Washer Upgrade and blade rubbing?

Does the thickness of a washer spacer have anything to do with if a blade rubs its liners during opening? I have a custom knife that I just got and the top part of the blade rubs the bottom left of the liner when opening. I can shimmey the blade back and forth slightly when it is closed, but there is no play when open. What causes this? Is it the washers? Should I upgrade to thicker ones? When I tighten the pivot screw, the blade rubbing gets worse! The tighter it is the worse it gets!!

I think you should get it repaired. It should not rub when opening. None of my liner or framelocks do that, and they aren't customs either.
