washers at the pivot area

I have a spyderco "captain". That is the only spyderco I have. I see two white washers made of something like plastic in the pivot, but my MT socom and vector they both don't have washers in the pivot. Do all spydercos have this white plastic washers in the pivot? Are these necessary? Does anybody know?

I was under the impression that most quality knives have washers. I think the white is nylon, but someone else will probably post more details about the type of washer you have.

Are you sure your MTs don't have very thin bronze washers? They may be harder to see than the white washers. Phosphor bronze or teflon or nylatron are common washer materials.

If you cant see the washers without taking the knife apart , they may still be there , the inside of your bolsters have have a recess that the washers partially fit into.

Washer's are not totally necessary but they do add to smoothness upon opening and closing.
IMO , the phos bronze are better washers.

thanks for your info but I'm pretty sure there were no washers in my MT socom auto. I opened it long time ago.
