Does anyone know if you can buy replacement washers from Emerson?
I really like the thickness of those wahers, and I can't find them anywhere else.

I use stacked phosphorous bronze washers if I change them.
I find them much smoother than the nylon/teflon washers that come on the EKIs.

So stacking doesn't cause any issues?

Same here, but I useally get it in bar stock and mill it down to what I need.

it indeed is MUCH smoother

No stacking will not cause any issues if properly lubed and the pivot is properly tensioned.

I just happen to have a bag of the thin PB washers so I need to use 4 (2 each side)
You can get PB washers the same thicknes as the original EKI ones.

I have never had any issues with stacked washers, they are just there as a spacer any
way so stacking has no effect on the function at all.

Just polish the contact areas, lube it up and enjoy the smoothnes :D:thumbup:

where does everybody get these bronze aftermarket washers?

on my old emerson i always just used the original nylons and never had a problem. i am just wondering if the bronze will accelerate wear on the metal, or if it is nothing but a personal preference?

when i tightened down my pivot with the nylon washers, there was 0 side to side play.

Stick with the Nylon. I never had a prob. Emerson would have switched washers if there were that many complaints.

There is nothing at all wrong with nylon washers, I just use PB washers because in
most casses I'm upgrading every other part of the knife so I just do the washers too.

PB washers dont cause more wear to the contact areas but they them selves wear at a slower rate than nylon washers do.
The difference in smoothness is noticable but the difference in wear is a fairly small one.
