I tried a variety of searches for this and couldn't find anything, so sorry if it has been covered already. Is it ok to wash a benchmade with an axis lock? Anybody have any experience with this? Does it damage the omega springs? Any special care tips?

I find that some soap and a toothbrush in the shower does wonders, but the sink does just fine too. I don't let beads of water stand on any parts afterwords since the 410 liners are proned to discolouring spot rust.

In the sink, a little dishwashing liquid on the toothbrush does pretty well too. Warm water is key, and remember to get those hard-to-reach back corners of the G10-axis cutout.

Repeat, rinse, and oil and you're golden.

Sure, just use large volumes of water and soap and rinse real well. Shake out all excess water and dry it. Re-lube and you'll be fine.

Wash it like you would any kitchen knife. Hot water is best, it warms the knife parts and speeds drying. After you wash the knife, flush the pivot area with WD-40 to displace any water, let dry overnight, and lube with the lubricant of your choice.

The Axis lock folders are very robust mechanisms. As long as you take minimal care to keep water displacing lubricants in the pivot, you don't have to worry about hurting them.

Steve: Is there no concern about how the lube will adhere or remain on top of WD-40?
