I have an old Bucklite lockback with singlepiece plastic orange frame/scales. The blade is 3" 422x SS with the profile of an eagle on one side and a rattlesnake on the other. I've had it for at least 20 years.

Anyway, it inadvertently went through the clothes washing machine yesterday. Came out nice and clean, otherwise no difference. The stainless is stainless. The orange plastic seems a little brighter than it had been. Good knife, to say the least!

BTW, to those who say all steel rusts: In the 80s my brother and I dug up a large stainless cooking spoon, marked U.S. that followed my mother home from WWII (she was a WAC). It had been buried in our backyard where we used to play with it in the mid-50s. This was in Mass. The spoon looked like new.

Heh, if I had a dime for every time I washed a knife, there would be a Strider in my pocket right now.

I did that with my Spyderco Sage 2 within the first week of owning her - those were the very first love marks she ever received too!

I've had a few knives go through the wash over the years. Never had any problems with them. Delrin, great stuff.

My Spyderco Delica FRN gen 1 that I got in the early 1990's has gone through the wash at least 4 times over the years.... No problems.

My Scrapyard Scrapivore went through the washer and dryer. It only had a few little rust spots on the edge that came right out with a few passes over the sharpmaker. Unfortunately the washer leeks a lot now :D.

Another reason why the neck knife prevails!
(glad to hear your knife wasn't damaged)

My wife put a Spyderco Q through the washer and it came out minus the pivot screw. the knife was still folded IIRC.
