I shall be crossing the atlantic from the UK to visit the Washington DC and Philledelphia area from 26 July until 7 August.
Is anyone aware of any Knife shows happenning in the area around that time?
Also are there any good retailers I should visit?
Here in the UK there is a total lack of either of the above!
Thanks for your help.

jacab, I noticed this was your first post here. Welcome to the bladeforums. I'm sure you have browsed in here.

Tysons and Springfield malls both have a knife shop, which happen to be part of a large chain of knife shops. The mall in alexandria also has this knife shop. Some good stuff including microtech, BM, spyderco, etc.

I'm not aware of anyshows out there at this time, but will let you know if they come up. I'll post it over in community forum. I'll probably be at the knife show if there is one.

jacab, we DC Knife Knuts are a very sociable bunch. Drop me an email as to when and where you will be and perhaps we can work out getting together for a lunch. I live in Arlington, VA, next door to Washington, DC, and work in downtown DC. We also have some others who may wish to join us. My email is hughf_us@yahoo.com

jacab, I forgot to say that the knife store mentioned above is Chesapeake Knife and Tool. In my opinion, the best of the stores, with the most knowledgeable salespeople, is at Springfield Mall. You can get there by riding the Metro(subway) to that stop and taking a shuttle to the mall as it is a goodly walk, at least for this arthritic soul. While there, you can go to the theater and see "Gladiator", by all accounts a real stemwinder of a film.

Jacab, also, when you are in the DC area make sure to know were you need to get to. If you are going to drive, it can be very confusing. I am new to the area, in fact as of june this year will be permanent in the area and have gotten confused driving around DC. Virginia is a little better.
