We need to get a knife show moved next year or a whole new show. Yesterday was the grand opening for Washington's new convention center. Guys, there are no words to describe this place. The size was of a scale that just boggled the mind. To think it won't even be "completed" until 2006, lol

I'm telling ya, it's just begging for a large knife show.

Anyone here from DC and happen to attend FOSE?

DN, I'm from D.C., why are you? I agree that a knife show at the new convention center would be great! Or at least one anywhere around here! It would also be nice for all the folks that would come in from out of town, there is a lot to do here.:)

What am I doing in D.C.? I work there, and thus spend most of my life at fricking Starbucks, lol :) :D

DC is a very unfriendly place for knives.

Technically, you're not supposed to carry anything there. Whenever I go into the city, I always leave all my stuff at home. I have too many friends who have had their knives confiscated...and not just at museums - sometime during traffic stops, parades, etc. - even for the 4th of July fireworks (they had checkpoints set up just to cross the street).

The guy at the front desk to the Smithsonian cafe wouldn't even let me bring in a butterknife with my lunch. Yet if you walk to the counter, they're glad to hand you one right then and there.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to have a knife show nearby.

Nearly every major building in DC has security checkpoints now.

So, a knife or gun show would go something like this:

(as you enter...)
"Please check in all your knives or guns at the door."
(you go purchase more)
(as you try to leave...)
"Oops! I'm going to have to confiscate these knives - not allowed in DC."

Perhaps I'm being a bit facetious...

Maybe I'm just aggrevated with the city who's true problems are not related to knife-carrying.

Rant mode off.

I was at FOSE on Wed. Was it me or was there fewer compnanies there? I went with the intention of talking to certain ones. Out of 4, only 1 was there. Seems like a nice center though.

No security coming in from Metro. I had my REKAT Savant clipped to my pocket. Nobody noticed or cared.

Yeah just a bit, lol Security is no where near that bad as long as you stay clear from the secured fed/mil installations.

I thought the turn out was good, comparable to last year. Some of the vendors I had planned on seeing didn't show up. What was more dissappointing was the actual presentations by those vendors who did attend. Don't get me wrong I had an absolute blast but there were several products I was assured would be there...then nothing.

The convention ceter was an exhibit in and of itself.
